Landvogtei und Schlosserhaus
The city library is located in the former residence of the governors and the chief bailiffs of the margraviate Hachberg. The most famous chief bailiff was Goethe’s brother in law Johann Georg Schlosser. His first wife Cornelia, born Goethe, died in this house on the 8th of June, 1777. The famous poet Goethe came twice to Emmendingen, in 1775 and in 1779.

the neon art of Christoph Hildebrand in the left staircase.
